Box Tops for Education!
Hey Wildcats!!! Our goal for 2014-2015 was $1500.00! We raised $1,367.20 so we are just $132.80 off. A job well done by ALL this year! But don't stop saving, we need you to save ALL the Box Tops you can over the summer for the 2015-2016 school year! Our first contest will highlight students with the most Box Tops and first, second and third place prizes will be awarded!
Save, Save, Save Box Tops this summer!!!
Student attendance during end of course testing is mandatory. Please have your child at school on time each day. Doctor appointments and other out of school functions should not be scheduled on testing days. Please also make sure your child gets adequate sleep and has a good breakfast on testing days to ensure a successful testing experience.

As partners in your child's education, it is important to ensure that they are prepared for each step along their educational journey. One way to determine student preparedness is through assessment; therefore, we will be administering the English I and Algebra I End of Course tests to students on May 18-19, with make-up testing through May 22, 2015. Your child will be taking the End of Course tests on the following dates:
English I May 18 (Monday)
Algebra I May 19 (Tuesday)
Students are not permitted to bring electronic devices or have cell phones on campus as outlined in the Sumter School District Policy, especially during testing. Having these devices in a testing session is a direct violation of state testing guidelines.
End of Course test results will provide important information regarding how your child is progressing at his/her current grade level. Test scores will indicate which important skills, abilities, and knowledge your child has now, and which ones need to be learned for school success in the future. End of Course tests count as 20% of your child's final grade. Results will help your child's teacher understand where your child is succeeding, as well as where extra help or academic focus is needed. End of Course tests will also provide specific suggestions for improving skills.
We need your support to ensure that your child is present, on time each day, and alert to do his/her best on their end of course tests. At Hillcrest Middle School, we want all students to be successful. We appreciate your cooperation and support.
