We are proud of you!
January 23, 2015
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your student(s) for a wonderful and productive first semester. As we head into the second semester with anticipation of greater achievement, we will continue to focus on communication as a key component to our school's academic success.
A Parent/Teacher Conference Night has been scheduled for Wednesday, January 28th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Hillcrest Middle School. This will be a walk-in event where teachers will be available to discuss your concerns. Also, January 28th is the date report cards are to be issued, and they will be available to you during the conference. If unable to attend, the report cards will be sent home with the students the following day. If your child is failing any class, I strongly encourage you to call the Guidance Department and schedule a one on one conference with the teacher. Communication again is very important in resolving issues and insuring the student's future success.
On Friday, January 30th, the eighth grade will be taking a trip to the Career Center for a tour. Monday, February 2nd is "Ground Hog Shadow" day, or job shadowing day, where students will experience firsthand what a career day entails. Hopefully, these events will put a spark of forward thinking into the students, giving them a desire to work diligently while in school to attain a future goal.
Again, I want to thank you for helping to make Hillcrest a positive and valuable learning experience in your student's life. If you ever have any questions, or wish to speak with me, don't hesitate to call or stop by the office.
Tarsha B. Staggers, Principal
