Hillcrest Middle School Media Center's mission is to develop lifelong learners who are effective users of ideas and information.

SC Discus is South Carolina’s Virtual Library  which is the “information place” for all South Carolinians. Discus, which stands for Digital Information for South Carolina Users, provides free access to an electronic library that’s available 24/7.  Please note some of the databases may require a username and/or password.  These are available from Ms. Hall in the library/media center.  Please note that the username and password are not to be shared with non-S.C. residents and may not be given over a public-access site.

Hours of Operation 2024-25: 

Monday –  7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Tuesday – 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Wednesday – 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Thursday – 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Friday – 7:30 am – 3:30 pm

Please note there may be changes according to scheduled Professional Development and school/district meetings.  Please call or email before coming especially for before or after school times to make sure I am available.

Please note that access to SC Discuss is direct on school or public library property.  For access from home, please contact Ms. Hall in the library for the username and password as these may not be posted on on any website, sent via email distribution lists that may include non-residents of South Carolina, or posted to any open electronic discussion list (listserv) or chat room.

Sumter County Library – Library Cards are available to residents of Sumter County.
